Washington Traumatic Brain Injury System of Support

Watch our information session

Recorded on Thursday, August 13, 2026. It runs for about 58 minutes.

We held an online session to introduce Washington TBI SOS. Our team at CBIRT was joined by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. If you could not join us on the day, you can watch the whole recording here. It has captions, and you can open a transcript from the player to read along or search it.

What we covered

  • Who is behind the program: DSHS, the TBI Council of Washington, and CBIRT at the University of Oregon.
  • The three kinds of support we are building: in-person support groups, peer to peer mentoring, and community events.
  • What support group facilitators do. Facilitators are trained and paid.
  • How to become a certified TBI peer support specialist, including the free training and testing.
  • The online hub that ties the three programs together.
  • How to take part, and what happens after you fill in a form on this site.
  • Questions from the people who joined us.

The slides

You can also read the slides from the session. They carry the same information that is on the screen in the video, as text you can search, copy, or have read aloud.
