Support for people with traumatic brain injury, their families, and their caregivers across Washington State.
Washington TBI SOS helps people living with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) find help close to home. We also support the families and caregivers who care for them.
We are building free programs across Washington State: in-person support groups, community activities, and one-to-one peer mentoring. This page is the first step. Tell us how you would like to take part, and we will be in touch as programs open in your area.

- Meet regularly with others who understand brain injury, led by a trained facilitator. Talk, share, and learn ways to cope.
- Peer support partner
- One trained partner, matched one-to-one with you, who has lived experience of brain injury.

- Take part in everyday community life: recreation, classes, volunteering, and social events, with support as needed.

What is Washington TBI SOS?
A traumatic brain injury can change daily life in ways that are hard to face alone. Washington TBI SOS is a statewide effort, run by the Center on Brain Injury Research and Training (CBIRT) at the University of Oregon for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), to connect people affected by TBI with others who understand.
Free brain injury events and training
We also offer free events and training through the TBI Events Portal. It is home to the Brain Injury Conference-Workshop Series, sponsored by DSHS and the TBI Council of Washington. Join a live session, or watch past recordings and earn a certificate of completion, with PDU credit for most sessions.
